In general, this was probably one of the better dinner menus we had during the entire cruise. Speaking of the theatre(s), throughout the cruise, late night showings of Star Wars movies were shown. I hadn’t seen any of the original trilogy on the big screen since the late 1990s, so it was very cool to revisit these in Buena Vista Theatre. She detailed her path from fan to author, and also highlighted the strong women of the Star Wars universe.

That's right, Disney's newest cruise ship — its first in over 10 years — is home to the world's newest "Star Wars"-themed bar. It’s also important to remember that Galactic Starcruiser is just the first of the company’s efforts here, one that will, like the parks it’s set in, presumably grow and change over time.

On April 29, Disney Cruise Line revealed its newest cruise ship, Disney Wish, currently under construction in Germany and set to embark on its first voyage in June 2022. Aboard, there will be many new, first-of-their-kind experiences, like a hybrid water coaster and ride attraction like you’d see in a Disney park. When Disney first announced pricing, a two-night stay was quoted as starting at $4,809 for two adults, while a family of four (three adults, one child) was $5,999.

In addition to the Halcyon’s characters, Kylo Ren and Rey join the fray. The action includes lightsaber battles, impressive displays of the Force, a swelling John Williams score, and everything you’d expect from a climactic Star Wars scene. The main dining cabin is about the size of a medium-sized restaurant, while the atrium’s neon-soaked bar offers seating for a couple dozen people at most. (And only a single sabacc table!) There are “restricted” spaces that open up for story elements, like the cargo hold, brig, and engineering bay, but there are really only two or three main “public” spaces to spend time in outside of those plot moments. It seemed like the visual language occasionally leaned more toward the gleaming ships of Star Trek than the lived-in style that’s the hallmark of Star Wars.

Beyond the space-facing windows, clearly the focal point of the lounge, there's not a ton of actual decor in here.
Just remember, those Storm Trooper uniforms can get mighty hot in the Caribbean sunshine. This attention-grabbing screen even takes guests into hyperspace every seven minutes. Walt Disney Imagineering checked off that box aggressively on its to-do list for the newest cruise ship, the Disney Wish.
Though both ships have ice-strengthened hulls capable of sailing in the polar regions, Windstar doesn't currently operate such itineraries, focusing primarily on the Americas, Europe, and the Pacific Islands. But these new ships may open doors to adventures in the years to come. Star Seeker is under construction, while Star Explorer is currently sailing as Quark Expeditions' World Explorer. Both ships will be reworked to include signature features of Windstar ships, from a watersports platform to Owners Suites with wraparound balconies to a whirlpool on the bow.
Crew members will greet you in the atrium, give you a brief tour of the ship, and take you to your stateroom. Boarding the ship starts at 1 P.M., but you can arrive up to 2 hours early to navigate the parking line, check in, and line up to board. A little preparation can go a long way to having the best possible experience onboard the ship. Here are some important things to know about preparing for your trip. Following muster is a good time to do a bit more looking around – I recommend the Sublight Lounge for a nice drink or a hand of holo-sabacc, or maybe a stroll into The Chandrila Collection boutique to pick up some clothing and accessories for your voyage.
It’s unfortunate that most news stories and bloggers have been calling it the “Star Wars hotel” since it opened. Their ability to deliver serious yet comedic moments and fun interactions is what makes them one of the best free-roaming characters in the parks and aboard the cruise ships. There is fabulous gourmet food at dinner, and delicious buffets for breakfast and lunch.

And it’s easy to imagine that both Disney (and its competitors) will be thinking about how to bring this kind of first-hand fan experience to more properties in the future. Guided by a Saja (a Jedi-like follower of the Force), guests are given a lightsaber to spin and slash around to block blaster bolts. The effects and haptics here make the activity — not just light and sound, but you can actually feel the saber blocking each bolt as it flashes in the real world. The Galactic Starcruiser experience starts at a spaceport where you’ll ride a transport pod up to the Halcyon proper — the lines between “hotel” and “ride” blurring together from the start.
